PIERRE, (KCCR) — Prior to Christmas the Pierre/Fort Pierre Area Community Foundation and the group’s Youth Philanthropy Fund awarded over 11-thousand dollars to area nonprofit and community groups. A total of 11-thousand 350-dollars was awarded to 13 community organizations doing work in the Pierre/ Fort Pierre area. Both of the endowed funds have awarded grants over time worth close to 658-thousand dollars. The endowment funds are managed by local advisory boards and are held with the South Dakota Community Foundation. Pierre/Fort Pierre Area Community Foundation grants for the December 2024 awards range from 250 to 15-hundred dollars among 12 groups. The Youth Philanthropy Fund awarded 250-dollars to the Pierre Tennis Association. The Pierre/Fort Pierre Area Community Foundation is one of 88 community savings accounts done across South Dakota in partnership with the South Dakota Community Foundation.
